Sooo, I can’t decide if I want to keep this for myself or not…I brought it home, all beat up and looking like a dog had been chewing on the legs it’s entire life, and sat on my back patio just a rocking and a rocking…trying to figure out what color to paint my new find…I think that’s when I fell in love with it…Nothing better than relaxing in a rocking chair, on a warm sunny afternoon, just staring into space and day dreaming………anyway, I finally decided to brighten it up a bit…introducing Old White, Arles, and Province…a great little trio….With McKenna’s help, we painted and sanded and waxed till we turned that shabby little rocker into this beautiful piece of furniture that’s fit for your back patio, front porch, or even that new baby nursery! I just love the way it turned out and McKenna is so proud of her part that she is already looking for something new to paint…

About The Old Cypress House

Mother-wife-friend-artist...I love to paint...I have always loved painting...I like to take something old and make it new again...with paint! Actually, I just like making stuff...DIY-that should be my initials! The Old Cypress House got started with a single plank of cypress wood given to me by my brother. I painted Tiger Eyes on it (LSU Tiger Eyes, to be exact...Geaux Tigers!). From that moment on, I couldn't do enough of them. I ventured into Fleur de Lis, Jazz guys...whatever anyone suggested. Then my husband helped tear down a cypress house that was built in 1889 and brought me home loads and loads of more wood, including the old cypress windows that were in the house...I could hardly contain my excitement! The possibilities are endless. This blog is going to showcase my work. It will mostly be on cypress...but, I'm sure I'll venture into other areas of art projects. I have so many ideas spinning around in my head. I hope you enjoy my work. If you see something you like or have an idea, please let me know...I'll be in my shop! That is such a cute rocker; I think you will enjoy it exactly how you mentioned, so you better keep it, especially for my use when I’m over. McKenna is going to catch the bug and will be doing as well as you before long. Good that she is interested; great hobby for her.

My hall table is so cute. I go and look at it every day and move things around putting different items that I think will look nicer, but they all look nice. I’m so happy with it. No visitors have come by yet to admire it. I’ll let you know the comments.
